Your manuscript is not absorbed into a model, not kept as a training example, and not used to make a machine better at writing books like yours.
You keep every right
One hundred percent of your copyright, and every other right in the work, stays where it started. Nothing here changes who owns the book. That is you.
What it does with your manuscript
Novelium builds a working reference of your characters, locations, and world, then checks the book against itself. That reference is the entire product.
What it does
- Tracks continuity. Whether your protagonist's eye color changes between chapter three and chapter seventeen.
- Holds the timeline. Whether three days can really have passed between those two scenes.
- Finds where the pacing sags. The stretch a reader would skim, marked before a reader gets there.
- Catches open threads. The subplot you opened early and never closed.
What it never does
- Write, rewrite, or suggest a single line of your prose.
- Train or improve any model on your text.
- Show your manuscript to other users of the platform.
- Sell it, license it, or hand it to a third party.
- Take any share of the rights in your work.
Reading and never writing is a deliberate choice by the people who built Novelium. It is the reason editors are willing to run other people's books through it.

For authors working with an editor
If your editor uses Novelium
Many authors meet Novelium secondhand: an editor mentions it, or hands over a printed note about it, and the book is already in someone else's hands. Three things are worth knowing.
The notes you get back are your editor's notes
Novelium surfaces what an editor might otherwise miss on a fourth read of a hundred thousand words. The judgment, the priorities, and the wording of the editorial letter are still entirely theirs.
Your book leaves when the job ends
An editor removes your manuscript from their workspace at the close of the engagement, or sooner if you ask. What survives is only the documents they have already shared with you.
You can ask them not to use it
Any editor can work a manuscript the old way: margins, sticky notes, and a continuity list kept by hand. It is slower and it almost certainly catches less, but it is your book, and this tool is never a condition of working together.

Questions authors actually ask
Is my manuscript used to train a model?
No. The analysis runs on a computer under terms that prohibit your text from being used to train or improve any model. Your book is not absorbed into a model, not kept as a training example, and not used to make a machine better at writing books like yours.
Does Novelium write any part of my book?
No. It reads and reports. There is no draft button, no rewrite, no suggested prose. If a sentence is in your book, you wrote it.
Who can see my manuscript?
You, and anyone you deliberately share it with. It sits in a private, password-protected account, encrypted in transit and at rest. It is not visible to other users of the platform, and it is not sold, licensed, or handed to third parties.
Do I still own the copyright?
Yes, all of it, along with every other right in the work. Nothing about the use of this tool changes who owns the book.
Can I have it deleted?
At any time, for any reason. Once the manuscript is removed, no record of the work or its analysis remains in Novelium.
What if I would rather my editor didn't use it?
Tell them. Editors worked without this for a century and can do it again. Using Novelium is never a condition of working with an editor who happens to have it.
Where are the actual legal terms?
This page is written in plain language; the binding documents are the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service. An individual editor's own practice is a matter between that editor and their client, and nothing on this page alters the terms of an agreement you have with them.
